Myleti Jewellery in Support of The Trussell Trust This Black Friday
So as I am sure you are well aware, due to all our social media and TV being flooded with adverts, that ‘Black Friday’ is happening this coming Friday 25th November. A time when we are all pushed in to frantically buying things that we don’t really need because they are seen as ‘cheap’.
Since my business has been running I have never taken part in this sale craziness. Firstly, because for me the whole concept of ‘over consumption’ just doesn’t feel right to me as a brand who really focuses on being sustainable and eco. Also, as a handmade business I just can’t afford to offer huge discounts on my products. I don’t over inflate my prices as so many other mass produced brands do, so when they go on sale, it looks like you are getting bargain, when in fact you really aren’t.
So instead what feels right for me is to say to all of you, that if you do choose to shop with me during this time, I have decided to donate 10% of every sale I make from Friday 25th November to Monday 28th November to the charity, ‘The Trussell Trust’ via Work For Good.
The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children.
New figures released by the Trussell Trust reveal that 1.3m emergency food parcels were provided to people between April and September this year by food banks in the charity’s UK network. That’s a third more than were provided during the same period in 2021 and an increase of more than 50% compared to pre-pandemic levels. The Trussell Trust says the cost of living emergency has created a ‘Tsunami of need’, as people struggle to survive amidst the soaring cost of living.
Let’s see what we can raise together this weekend and help to do some good in these tough times for people. Plus in your order, you willl also receive a special chocolate gift (purchased from a lovely local Warwickshire small business called ‘Slabb’ – trust me their choc is delicious!) from me as a thank you for doing so.
With love,
Sarah x
